Surtur is referring to the retcon/more detailed story in which the failed experiment is revealed to leave only a single scar on Vic's face. The scar was still worse than what Kirby was hinting at with his extra artwork.
Anyway, for someone as f*cked up in the head as Doom, any damage on his visage is too much. He dons the mask too soon, much like in the original story, except this time he is shown screaming in pain and falling into the snow 😂
You'd love it, Mindset. Btw, every Doom fan is familiar with that story, which leads me to believe you're just a Doom fanbot.

But such is Doom..he can't even tolerate a single scar. A single scar implies something hurt Doom, and Doom doesn't get hurt. Only Doombots get hurt.
Even if you see Doom and he is bleeding..it is a Doom bot. He just put fake blood in it, sort of like Terminators bleed. Such is Doom. In fact any failure at all is a Doom bot.
In fact, Doom is like Darkseid. We've never ever met the true Doom. It's all robot avatars. The versions of Doom that got cosmic powers were just super special Doombots that exceeded the limits of their programming. But wait they couldn't exceed the limits because it implies the Doombots had any limits at all.
