On the other hand these players already get special treatment as is, something tells me making them millionaires would just make things worse.

Plus I always thought that was the trade off, at least for those who get scholarships. The school, etc make money off sports, the student gets a free education, experience playing at a higher level, and exposure that would help get them placed on pro teams after college.

Yeah, that's the bullshit excuse this million dollar industry gives for not paying their workers anything...

I would have no problem if they pay the athletes. But then they also need to put in even stricter methods for preventing these people from getting special treatment.

What exactly do you mean with special treatment?

We already had one example in this very thread of teachers putting pressure on others to pass athletes. Something tells me little Johnny Doe who sucks at sports..wasn't having anyone go to bat for him in terms of pressuring a teacher to pass.

Okay, so you mean getting academic leniency. Yeah, sure, I agree with that.

Maybe this will be of interest to you:

I mean yeah a lot of them get a free education, the least the teachers could do is make sure they earn it.

I'd also fire any teacher who pressures another teacher to pass an athlete. The problem is these athletes get used to it, special treatment runs rampant, not just in college. High school and grammar school as well(especially in the higher grades like 7th-8th). We treat good athletes as sometimes akin to walking deities.

Then these kids grow up and think they can walk over whoever they want in life and the sad thing is they think that way because grown ass adults taught them to.

My other question would be if they started to pay the college athletes then should the athletes in turn be required to pay their own tuition?

Thanks.

So, I'm not sure what to make of it tbh. I don't think it's nefarious, but it has the potential to be one of those intrusive, silly government programs that cause more problems than they solve.

I am glad we see eye to eye on this.

Why would they say the racial database needs to be secret?
