Maul was stated by sources to be winning against the pair... lol
That's hardly "lol" worthy. Especially considering he lost.
In either case it's pretty clear that fight was no walk in the park for Maul. So suggesting Agen has a chance here, is essentially putting him on or very close to Maul level.
Agree with SunRazer, Maul was winning that fight. Kenobi was lucky - as always - that he didn't die, after Maul kicked him off of that catwalk.
Team pretty comfortably. It's quite possible, that Qui-Gon would be able to take him alone. After all, Count Dooku somehow placed Qui-Gon above AotC Kenobi, and I'm not sure if Agen would be able to do against Maul as good as Qui-Gon did.

No, Maul didn't lose. He separated Obi-Wan from Qui-Gon and then Qui-Gon tired from solo fighting. He got a brief rest but in the end he was slain. Obi-Wan lost on his own even when he had Force Rage amping him, and then he won via cheapsshotting.
Insider #62: Fightsaber claims that Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's Ataru technique were merely "delaying tactics" against Maul's Juyo mastery.

Maul won the battle but lost the war. Kenobi red wedding'd his torso.
