A 16-year-old girl was gang raped by a group of men and then had her eyes gouged out by her own sister in what police in Argentina are describing as a horrific exorcism ritual, one organized by a local pastor.

The attack happened in the town of General Pinedo, in Argentina’s northern Chaco province. The family of the teen claimed she was possessed by the devil, and they came up with a terrifying scheme in an attempt to save her.

The ritual, which was allegedly planned by a local pastor, involved a group of men raping the girl. The attack grew even more violent from there, the Mirror noted.

Police have arrested the older sister, who claims the local pastor ordered her to remove her siblings’s eyes in order to help drive out the evil things her sister was seeing.

The older girl said the devil was gaining access to her sister through her visions, and it was believed that because demons are terrified of pain, the act would drive out the devil.

The victim was listed in critical condition at the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

The gang rape case was shocking even to veteran law enforcement officers.

“It is the first time in 22 years of my career in the police to have an event of this nature,” said Police commissioner Pablo Almiron. “The prosecutor has also said that it is the first time in his life. It is very difficult to explain that something like this could happen to a teenager.”

Police in Argentina have arrested the victim’s sister and are reportedly close to arresting a group of men who took part in the gang rape exorcism ritual.

Blaming religion/Christianity on this is a bit silly don't you think. Seems like the actions of one seriously deranged man and a bunch of deranged idiots who followed him.

Edit: at least I'm not aware where rape/eye-gouging is stated as being proper exorcism rites in the Bible

You know what I get the idea of "we gouged out her eyes to get rid of the evil things" part. It is utterly insane, okay your eyes are used to see things so if they thought she was seeing evil...whatever. But where does the rape come in? Did they think the demon was inside the girls vagina or something? I'm all sorts of confused.

Just seems like a gang rape and they said "oh we can blame it on demons if we gouge her eyes out". Since otherwise wouldn't they of mutilated her genitals if they are cutting out body parts to get rid of the evil?

This is horrific. On SO many levels. 🙁

This is just the first time I've ever seen people say the rape was meant to cure the demonic possession. Since you'd think demons would actually enjoy such acts and not be driven out by them.

If this wasn't some scheme, it was sheer deranged fanaticism.

I'm glad I wasn't born in a religious family. Must of been easy for the sister to mutilate her younger sibling when you're convinced you can spend an eternity in heaven after death if you accept Jesus.

Please don't equate true Christians with nutball people who do stupid shit like that. Christ would never advocate rape or gouging out someone's eyes during an exorcism.
