So, I'll readily admit at this point that the kid and his family are scummy people, but I still think the incident outed a lot of people as bigots in that school.
So to summarize: everyone involved is a big ol' piece of shit.
We should take a laser beam to a penny and slice it in half and give it to the family. Oooh or wait you ever put a penny on some train tracks and let a train run over it and it smushes it down? Yeah, that might be good as well. Maybe, MAYBE we can try that with a quarter instead of a penny.
Nah, better just to use a penny. Don't want to waste too much money on those that do not warrant it.

Lol, you're comparing gun ownership to a religious faith. That's an idiotic false equivalence. Go back to school.
Gun ownership is a constitutional right which is a religion in itself. ,any people don't believe in religion and they do the constitution, you go back to school.
The constitution of the land is above religious texts. There are people who do not believe in a god hence do not abide by the Bible/Koran/Torah/Black Bible/etc. Just because God is mentioned in the Constitution, does not necessarily mean it is religious in nature. The two books are not related to each other.

Here the law of the land is law, religion is not.
Unfortunately we have two very problematic kinds of people here. You have the ones that believe religion is the law of the land.
Then you have those who know it's not, but WISH it was. It's hard to decide which type is more dangerous.
The kid was being rebellious, like any other 14-year-kid is. I know, I went through that phase. He intentionally made it look like it was a bomb. He even the set the alarm to go off 2x during class, even though he was already warned. He wanted his "15 minutes of fame", but social media (especially responses from politicians and celebrities) blew it up because... reasons. This is a good example for Surtur's social media thread.
15 minutes of fame and 15 million dollars don't forget.
If he truly intentionally made it to look like a bomb not only should he not be given money he should of been expelled from the school. Was there actual evidence he made it look like a bomb on purpose and set the alarm to go off during class?
Since if we know those things for a fact I can't see how anyone could defend this kid. You can talk about an over reaction, but he's definitely not a victim of a single thing if those things are true.
You see, therein lies the problem. No one can prove he intentionally made it look like a bomb. But it would be logical to think he knew the repercussions he would face when he disobeyed his teacher (c'mon, the kid is frickin' 14 years old not 6 years old), but didn't care at all. Because freedom of expression or Islamophobia or some shit. Sad thing is he got what he wanted: fame and fortune. All because he acted like an a-hole and the liberal media sensationalizes shit like this.
Well yeah it takes two to tango. Instead of saying the kid wasn't an a-hole but the teachers were..it more seems like they were all involved in an "who can be the biggest a-hole" contest and all desperately wanted top prize and the kid unfortunately didn't win 1st place. A definite runner up though it seems.
Luckily the prize for the runner up is a potential 15 million, yay!
