Well it's part of Legends and with Starkiller this is presumably a Legends fight.

It's outdated even within the Legends continuity, tbh. The reason given in Fightsaber, is since Varer hadn't faught a lightsaber weidling opponent in a decent time spand - that his skill would have deteriorated because of it. But given Vader has dueled a number of duelist just BEFORE his ANH self (Galen, Killer, Proxy, etc) the statement doesn't really hold up anymore.
