Liberal judges destroy college debate clubs. Why?

You have a link? Sounds like it would be really relevant to the thread, and give us a better understanding of what is discussed in the articles.

I had assumed what he said was a joke. Surely..it must be a joke.

It sounds like misrepresentation of what likely really happened, but it seems to be based on the articles in part. So probably a "joke", but somewhat related to his misinformed, racist opinion on the topic.

I just find it hard to believe people could legitimately say "these rules were made for white men and don't apply" and then actually win.

Hmm, do you think the premise that these rules are made for white men is incorrect? Or are you saying, even though they are made for white men, the rules are the rules, and you shouldn't win if you don't stick by them?

Heres a clip of the captain of the debate squad getting her team ready for the state debate finals.

The rules are made for anyone deciding to enter. If they want to take the "well these things only apply to white men" to it's logical conclusion why do I get the feeling they wouldn't be too happy about it?

I'm saying if you join up you agree to follow the rules. If you can't do something that simple no you shouldn't win.

Well, it seems like they are generally following the rules, but rather than traditional formats choose different methods to make their points.

Here's another article on it, btw, if you are interested: http://www.salon.com/2014/05/13/“i_was_hurt”_how_white_elite_racism_invaded_a_college_debate_championship/

Where does "the rules don't apply to us" fall into all that?

I don't know what you are quoting, neither long pig's biased article nor the article in The Atlantic that it was based on say that.

In case you missed my other post:

I'm quoting the long pig quote you originally asked the question of "You have a link? Sounds like it would be relevant" . I guess they didn't specifically say "the rules don't apply to us" but rather that they don't need to follow the rules because they were made for white men.

I did see your other post, but the link does not work.

Well the more I read about it, it doesn't even seem like they are breaking rules at all (apparently certain minor violations are being amplified by right wing sources to make it appear like they are breaking rules, when really they are breaking traditional styles).

And yeah, KMC seems to have problems with certain special characters after the server move. Here's the link to the Salon article. http://bit.ly/1L2cVsi

Oh, and here's also a link to the full debate in question (rather than some cut up parts to make it look particularly bad).

the atlantic article says they decided to change the topic of the debate to something completely different from the topic they were assigned.... how the **** is that within the rules? lol

honestly, if i didn't know better i would assume that atlantic article is satire. my respect for the academic elite is dwindling by the day.

dead @ "they discussed such matters as 'nigga authenticity' "

how the **** is this not satire? 😂
