I get the feeling that most of the identity politics people have been abused, bullied or shamed most of their early life and still might be, and this is the way they can get some revenge is to get involved in politics and get some politician who don't care about them to grab their vote for his or her gain.
I don't believe they are genuinely offended. Its rare to single out a person who says "I was offended". You do see mobs of people who claim their entire race was offended simply because they were told so by progressive leaders. Then they circle the wagons.
Basically, its a way to control what others say.
We as a people agreed that we won't be assholes to each other by saying certain words to each other, so they came in and changed definitions of those words to include anything that threatens their agenda.
Example, the word racism was literally changed in a way that, by definition, only whites can fit into it. So, you can actually win a debate saying blacks can't be racist, and technically youll be right...but intellectually youll be wrong. Postmodernism.

It's scary to listen to that and realize what he said defines a great deal of democratics in power.
