I know the monocle is to make him look like Sherlock Holmes, but come on. In a galaxy far far away, they don't have vision correction surgery?

Or perhaps he chooses not to have said surgery.

Maybe he grew up in a culture that has some kind of taboo against surgery. Or perhaps he has a phobia of surgery. Or maybe he's just a retro kind of guy. Or perhaps it's just decorative and not actually needed.
