At his highest, and after removing his suit, Steel should win. Still a good fight though.

Leaning towards Steel, but his appearances are so limited it's tough to say with any degree of certainty

Steel's.....bulge is straining that suit. THAT is where all the tensile strength is.

Please Despero during V& V was a beast taking on SM, PG, WW, Hourman,CM and treating them like a joke. Despero wins 10/10.

Gog was taking on Johnny Thunder (a 5D imp), Alan Scott (wth Starheart), PG, Starman, Liberty Belle, AND Kingdom Come Superman...and Steel laid him out with punches.

As was Despero's showing; hell, even we acknowledge it, by calling him V&V Despero (i.e. that one story arc).

I mean, if Golgo renamed the thread V&V Despero vs One World Under Gog Citizen Steel, would you be happier?

I know what Steel did, IMO Despero feat was greater. Gog for the most part was getting blasted and was getting punched by 2 Cl 100 characters. Despero was getting punched by 4 Class 100 characters. For all we know Gog might be extremely resistant to EB.

Despero is far more consistent. Heck even in 90s he was taking on JLA, JLE, Congolomarte, Lobo and several other heroes at once and was wrecking them throughout four issues.

Then he took on entire JLA combined. And Won.

Took on entire JLA again in Crisis of Conscience.

It's not a single arc.

Aside from that, his only legitimate, PIS-free loss(that I can recall) was to E2/BL Superman... Who was trans-level, easily.

Aside from dropping 3rd World Gog with a scant 2 punches, he also no-sold a punch from Herald-Gog, before casually swatting him aside--and Herald-Gog was wrecking the cumulative JSA(which included Alan Scott, KC Superman, Obsidian, Starman, PG, etc.), and no less than equal to DotNG Infinity Man.

CS also went toe-to-toe with Grundy, and was having the time of his life during the fight.

He also no-sold an all-out, no holds barred punch from PG. He was actually pissed that he couldn't even feel it.

It might be a low showing. But on average he is around Power Girl level in strength with above durability like juggernaut.

Kal-L also said that he was more of a match for PG than him. And Superman matched Kal-L just fine.

That arc is full of inconsistencies. Like Gog being the same Gog from Chuck Austen's run where Superman oneshotted him.

Meh, if we take Steel on his "Gog" toppling level, he may win here. Otherwise I don't think he is on that level.

Same coin, Despero is certainly not always at his "V&V" levels. /shrug

True. His wrecking of JLE and Lobo was better.

Can you post that fight? That's just four issues of fighting there.

It was a great feat, but I don't think it was better, tbh. He slapped around Flash, J'onn, Lobo, and a few other B/C-Listers(D-Listers if you count Guy 😛.)

The team Despero trounced in V&V was much more impressive, imo:

I don't deny that most of Steel's showings s trength wise are PG level except the Gog feat, but lets remember that the gog feat is the only one where he removed his suit. The suit that was designed and built to restrain his strength so that he wasn't a danger to those around him. It's why he moves so slow, he literally has to bend a solid metal suit with the tensile strength of an orbital lander just to move.

The OP didnt mention suitless so the way I see it that feat shouldnt be the standard we should take.
