Star Trek: Discovery

Oh now I remember. I was thinking maybe the Doctor WHO lawyers could sue the Star Trek Discovery on some trademark infringements.

I watched a review of this and the guy was talking about how he thinks the klingons really aren't the bad guys and that it's the federation that seem bad for trying to encroach upon the klingons, etc.

I've only seen one episode, so is this true?

Well, the Federation was technically at the edge of their space. The Klingons overreacted.

This show is improving but I can't help but wonder how much of that is down to the impressive budget.

Will it be enough to get people to dish out for the service is the real question.

No. Slap that guy for being stupid. The Klingon's picked a fight with the Feds in order to unite the separate warring houses. We learn this in ep1

Yeah, I didn't know if they ended up doing anything to overstep their bounds after the first ep. Seems it is just Klingons being Klingons.

I think it was Dax on DS9 that gave a pretty accurate description of the Klingons.

Finally got around to watching the pilot of this.

Uninspiring at best.

Does it improve?

The only plus point was the new Klingon ships look pretty awesome if, as typical with the new Trek stuff, over designed. Not as bad as the Narada but still pointlessly over complex

I'd say it does improve.

Whether that means you'll like it is another story, as it's decidedly un-Trek like.

A lot closer to Battlestar Galactica Reimagined, with all the drama and conflict. Just replace the Cylons with Klingons, Kara Thrace with Michael Burnham, Admiral Cain with Captain Lorca..

Well I liked BSG as well and it's spin offs. Might try a couple more episodes.

It gets A LOT better IMO.

Pilot was Meh.

Latest episode was a step down from last week, I thought. Weaker story, weaker writing, and even Mudd was kind of a let-down, I thought.

thought it was good, but yeah, not as good as ep4.

After this episode it's imo that Saru is more of a loose canon wildcard than Michael. Seems like that guy will straight up murder someone if it would benefit him. I don't know if his species has a heart, but he sure as hell doesn't listen to it.

funny thing is that i never got the impression that Stamets was gay until the part where Saru asked him if he would follow orders and the doctor guy looked at him with disappointment when he said yes... i was like, are they fcking? I laughed when it turned out they were a couple.

I honestly didn't catch the look from the doctor as being more than just a look, so kudos.

The F bombs were kind of just... There, I thought.

I am interested to see what's going on with Stamets though, after what he did.

Any Info on how many Trekkies are dishing out of the service?

he's connected to the spore network now, so maybe his body is in multiple places at once.

don't know, but it should be interesting.

No wonder Saru can't even begin to understand why Michael did what she did, much less forgive her. Have to have principles outside of "Do what you're told" to relate to someone taking a stand on principles.

The way Captain Lorca operates, it makes you wonder if Saru's seeming willingness to execute widows and orphans if he felt it was necesssry to a mission is why he chose him as his first officer.

Yeah I thought so too, but he is penciled in for 5 episodes I think, so it's by no means over.

this show is just very bad.. none of these characters are relatable.. none can be rooted for. the Michael burnham character is a joke... also with the episode on sunday how is it that

Spoiler:
the Klingon rifle lorca used disintegrated everyone except the female Klingon????

seems like it needs to be a center mass shot for disintegration to take effect. The female Klingon got hit with a glancing shot.

that still doesn't explain why he didn't kill her with a followup shot.
