Hopefully the local authorities can rescue the hostages and bring this to an end.

Mali's been caught in more than enough blowback of troubles that started in neighboring countries, and that's probably the source of this one too, the same group that moved in the country in 2012.

30 have been freed, but still waiting on word on what else is going down.

I didn't realize that they were acting in that area. I've actually known several students from Mali over here for college. Where peace and logic fits in to murdering unarmed men, women, and children in order to further an Islamic state I do not know, but something more has got to be done.

Wow, I really thought it was Boko Haram. Turns out it is an insurgent group whose leader was supposed to be dead back in 2013. Goes to show that US intel isn't really as accurate as it seems.
