It sounds like people in the intelligence community were trying to make it look better to the president and perhaps senate and congress as well.

If true that's just a really stupid thing to do, greatly risking national security.

I really think this is bad news.

If you're talking about the US military going out of its way to not kill civilians while still destroying the target(s), I think that is fantastic news. We need more news like that, imo.

Agreed. It's how we got the Iraq war- trying to please your bosses with intelligence reports is always a bad move.
