Darksaint already kind of answered this but with Morlun he can absorb any type of energy. But if he's running out of energy he has to absorb energy from one of the 4 Totems (at least I think it was 4). As the give him more energy/stamina/power however you want to put it more than regular energy like Genis's for example.

The 2 we know about are the Spider Totem and the Black Panther Totem.
