so i'll be honest, i really don't know how this entire thing started.. who was the first one to bring this shit up then? if it was just obama not saying the term radical islam, who noticed that? i'd ask whoever responds to try to be specific, and not just say fox news or something like that. cause it's weird to me if obama/the democrats weren't making any noise about not using the term, they just weren't using it... and someone combed through all their speeches and said "you never once used this term"... it almost seems like there would have been some directive among the democrats and perhaps the more liberal parts of the media not to use the term, which in turn some right winger picked up on. if i'm wrong and there was no such directive... and the right wing literally just manufactured this issue... then it's a non-issue and should be dismissed as such.
Do we have to pretend that this is a mystery? I mean, looking at the last 8 years, from long-firm birth certificates, or allegations of being a Muslim, to allegedly playing too much Golf.....we know who started it. Republicans were looking for another attack on Obama, and him not attacking Islam enough in their view is what they decided to use. Then FOX News propagates it, and the foot-soldiers read it on their right-wing outlets and parrot it, and here we are...
well, yea. i do have to regard it as an open question until i get a concrete answer. the trends you point out are easy enough to jump on... but we all know trends can mislead. i assumed the shooter of the planned parenthood facility was a christian pro life terrorist... now it seems they may not be. would have made sense if it was. makes less sense that it's not. but facts are still facts. and jumping to conclusions can't actually replace facts. but obviously we can guess in the mean time. i was just wondering if anybody had the actual facts.

What would actual facts be though. In the case that my theory is correct, unless we can somehow get transcripts or witness testimony from closed door meetings, I don't see what we could receive as hard evidence, so we'll have to go by circumstantial evidence, and for that it's pretty obvious that it has been a heavy talking point of both Republican politicians and right leaning News Outlets.

It has been the official policy of the State Department since the George W. Bush administration to not use these terms for the reasons already cited.
The Obama administration is simply maintaining the same policy based on the recommendations of the State Department counter-terrorism experts.
Once again, a policy that was not a problem under George W. Bush is suddenly a national crisis under President Black Man.
Here's a decent (and not very long) read of why it's not in the US' best interest to link "Islam" with whom we're fighting against.

Right. It's tactical- part of the reasons to use the language is to draw a wedge.
Like, if there was a bad group of, say, Catholics, you could say 'Radical Catholicism' and probably make a lot of catholics feel you're attacking them, or you can say, 'Enemies who pervert Catholicism,' and help work to make sure Catholics are against them too.
