Do video games suck now?

Said greed was what fittingly led to the Atari's eventual failure and the crash of pretty much video games as a whole till the NES or so. Kinda begs the question if another crash should happen... Though it prolly won't happen, I would not mind if the game industry was forced to reassess itself again.

That crash was a US-only thing- there was no general crash of video games. I was there playing in the midst of a highly successful industry at that point. The root cause was not really greed but that the US had never embraced the microcomputer market as an alternative- Atari's time was done anyway but the US had nowhere else to look.

Nothing like that could happen again because alternatives are effectively limitless; any gap in the market would be filled.

Guys, i created this thread because i'm just wondering do games sucks right now

And virtually everyone said no.

Stop trying to make controversy where there isn't any.

I think your complaints are just users buying different things. They wouldn't be micro transactions if people didn't buy it but they do. Gamers themselves need to change to make a difference.

For some reason people believe game development costs are the same as they were. They are not. Before, only Rockstar games were believed to be upwards of $80 to $100 million dollar dev costs but now most open world games are becoming that expensive.

Things like development houses closing, and genres being ruined and etc are because of people's buying habits.
