I wonder what precipitated her jumping ship from allowing 800,000 refugees to being against Immigration. I doubt its because of any "ideological" shift so much as other reasons unknown to us.

What the article is talking about is the multicultural aspect of immigration. Which from quotes from the source seem to suggest she has always had these views. The views being that instead of trying to create a multicultural country it is better for people immigrating to adopt German values, languages, and customs. That was they area assimilated into the country easier and that way isolated cultural suburbs do not continue to spout up creating divides in in the populations.

She's against the spread of Radical Islam by terrorists who somehow manage to slip in the immigration.

If you're a Muslim and you enter Germany, you should abandon your view of Sharia laws and follow the German constitution.

-She first made this claim in 2010

-She's now repeating said claim, likely to calm her detractors since her popularity in Germany is falling due to her refugee policies

Obama's at 45%, which is overall good for a leaving president. By comparison, the GOP's poster-boy Reagan was at 49% and the last Republican President left at 34%. So considering, Obama is doing alright.
