Yeah, you're right, but don't act like Michael fights totally dumb. When he was fighting Victor, he was not fed, he was freshly turned, and still dodged every ht in the beginning of the fight, showed some nice acrobatics, and avoided Victor's sword parries. It was just that Victor was so much more skilled than him and was no slouch in strength. And Michael even got shot in between by several gunners.
When he was fed, he went toe-to-toe with Markus who was stronger than victor, and Markus only won by ambushing Michael when he was in human form. Michael also used the chains on the Lycans in Tanis lair smartly, one to swing around the werewolf to get the upper hand long enough for him to tear off its jaw, and the chain of another one to snap its neck. Once it became clear to him fighting William straight-up was not smart he began to outmaneuver him to beat him. So its not like Michael never uses his brains in his fights
