Thor vs. Leviathan

In the Avengers movie when the team first sees a leviathan, instead of Hulk stepping up to punch the creature it's Thor that the team asks to take care of it.

Scenario 1: Thor is not allowed to fly and is only allowed to use a normal Mjolnir hit. He has the option to throw Mjolnir.

Scenario 2: Same as #1 but Thor is allowed to fly

Scenario 3: Thor is not allowed to fly but is allowed a charged Mjolnir strike.

Scenario 4: Same as #3 but Thor is allowed to fly.

He is not allowed to simply shoot it with lightning (because we already know how that ended up).

Will he be able to stop the Leviathan? Will he be able to do it better or worse than Hulk?

If they thought he could do it then why didn't they ask him.

Guess you forgot that Cap did ask Thor to take care of multiple leviathans.

Because the studio wanted a Hulk moment.

Scenario 1: Probably not gonna do enough damage to completely destroy it.
Scenario 2: He can just do what he did to the giant frost monster on Jotunheim.
Scenario 3: We've seen what a charged Mjolnir strike can do. Levathian is toast.
