Actually the rules allow up until a bit further than page 2 IIRC.

Any rational appraisal of a slugfest involves the characters being reduced to only fisticuffs/kicks while in battle.

It doesn't involve standing in front of each other and alternating punches until one falls. Or even more outrageously that ducking and blocking isn't allowed.

Who would state that a slugfest is anything other than what I've described?
