It looks like Marvel may have picked up the live action rights to a certain villainous copycat back.

Taskmaster, the iconic, skull-faced villain with the ability to instantly memorize and counter his opponent's attacks, was, up until recently, the property of Fox. At one point the studio even tried to create a live-action project with the character, but was unable to actually get anything off the ground and the character was seemingly shelved along with the project.

During an interview with Empire, Deadpool’s director, Tim Miller, said that while he’d like to see the Merc with the Mouth take on the Taskmaster, but apparently the character is no longer under Fox’s jurisdiction.

“I’d love to see Deadpool fight Batman - no, I’m just kidding, that’s not even in the Marvel family! I’d love to see Deadpool go up against Taskmaster who’s another Marvel total… bada##. But if I was to stay inside the Fox family, I would like to see him fight X-23, the female Wolverine. The female clone of Wolverine.”
