We're at war with bad ideas. And it should be important to acknowledge that Islam seems to be disproportionately producing this sort of dangerous ideology that is completely at odds with what civilized societies value. So if we continue to ignore what's in the holy books and what it actually means to believe such things or that it's possible to truly believe such things it will be at our own peril.
One can acknowledge these things without condemning every single Muslim. Statistics, b!tches (see attachment).
We all want the same thing: society that is safe and that has as few lunatics (religious or otherwise) as possible. But ignoring the peculiar problem that Islam is causing is not the way to get there. Banning Muslims from entering the US (as Trump suggests) isn't necessarily the solution either. More and more peaceful and reformative Muslims need to be given more and more platforms.
