Many people (inside and outside the star wars universe) mistake Darth Revan and mandalorian war Revan being different, like if the darkside changed him that much, when in fact looking at it, Mandalorian war Revan and Dark Lord of the sith Revan still pretty much the same. Yhea Dark Lord of the sith have been impregnated by Vitiate tough even tho, I believe that he plan his encounter. But Mandalorian War Revan was already a dude that was clearly feeding on passion. Passion for power knowledge Justice, Combat, War, Revanche. Heck he even name his groupe the mother freakin REVANCH ist.

Just do the Foundry. Go back play KotOR I and II Play the foundry. Go back Play KotOR I and II Dark side.
The fact That Revan still conserve his memories has what he was back in KotOR I, just corrupted his memories. This is the only explanation to the bad writting.
