Sun God is probably the worst match for Ultraman that you could possibly do. Just being near him would turn Ultraman into a emancipated worm.

I never understood why Ultraman snorted that K-Nite. Why not just keep it on himself and have the boost be for good instead of temporary?

Because Johns' iteration of Ultraman had to ingest kryptonite to gain its effects:

As a child he ate it. As an adult he snorted it.
