She didn't fail, she was interrupted by a communication from Darth Marr. Diverting ones attention from one task to another is not failure, but you can believe what you want 👆
And on your topic of her life being extended, she was hit by a bolt of lightning, seemingly of Force-related energy. The Rakata were known for Force-imbued technology, so it's completely reasonable to deduce that the energy that seized her was of Force-based origine, transferring the power and whatever else is needed to extend er life by "solar cycle." It's easily debatable, but still completely reasonable.
