If Maul is actually Ahsoka's superior it isn't by much at all.

For what it's worth, the trivia guide on StarWars.com mentioned that there was originally a duel between Vader and Maul, but later in production, Maul was "spared" the confrontation, implying he'd have either died or lost.

No doubt it was the original way Maul was disposed of rather then losing to Kanan.

Maul already admitted he couldn't beat Vader anyway.
