A young Law student/blogger who was openly Atheistic in Bangladesh was hacked to death by a group of Islamic fundamentalists.
Nazim Uddin, 28, whose two brothers live in the UK, was walking home with a friend after completing evening classes at Jagganath University when men attacked him with machetes and shot him dead. His murder brings to six the total number of secular bloggers and activists killed in Bangladesh in a similar manner since the beginning of 2015. The banned militant group Ansarullah Bangla Team have claimed responsibility for the previous killings, but no organisation has yet claimed involvement in Uddin's murder.
Syed Nurul Islam, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s deputy commissioner, said that Uddin was intercepted at a road intersection by four or five young men in their mid-twenties who hacked him, and then shot him in the head when he was on the ground.
