Living Movie Music Masters

My favorites are:

Jerry Goldsmith
John Williams
Alan Silvestri

What are your favorites?

The first two are surely geniuses and masters in their field! Never heard of the last one though.

Well for a start this belongs in movie discussion!

Gordon, you never heard of Alan Silvestri? Shame on you!

I like

1) Trevor Rabin
2) Mark Mancina
3) Hans Zimmer
4) Harry Gregson-Williams

{I ain't ever heard of those guys either. Care to make something of it BB?}

Prince for Purple Rain and Batman.

John Williams has to be the best movie music guy every. His music makes the movies. In Jaws he illustrated the very character of the shark with two notes!

John Williams is awesome.

Badalamenti and Morricone have to be up there surely.

i like carl davis. he wrote the theme for A&E/BBC's production of pride and prejudice----it's nice, and fits the style of music from that era perfectly. 😄

p.s. i don't know who badalamenti is...or what he wrote, rather (even though i may have heard some of his work) --- can someone tell me?

Angelo Badalamenti
Born March 22, 1937
New York City
Composer for TV and Movies

Twin Peaks theme
Mulholland Drive theme
Blue Velvet
The Last Don
and soundtrack for various movies and tv shows.

For those who don't know Alan Silvestri; he composed the music for PREDATOR, PREDATOR II, THE ABYSS and various other movies.

I might add to that list of mine the name of James Horner. Lets not forget him.

Mark Macina is great. His work for THE OUTER LIMITS is wonderful. Mark Macina and John Van Tongeren.

Are there anymore LIVING composers that you love?
