Well Vizsla to me was able to go up against Maul in a little brawl and get in some good hits. I've never seen Rex do anything to that scale to my memory.

Also Vizsla like Rex was bread for war, for hand to hand combat to fight Jedi. Rex however was bred to fight droids.
