Eh depending on the source he either:

Used Wall of Light on him.

Dueled him and beat him, then cut him off(?)

It's conflicting af.

That and midway Kyle learned from an old Jedi's visions and memories.

Dark Shear and Form V being two prominent abilities he learned.
