Under Starlin, even Pre resurrection Thanos didn't use a force field. Neither did a weakened Thanos in Infinity War against Masterson Thor.

And as far as the character goes, I'm merely pointing out that Thanos has obviously not always used forcefields against Hulk.

He had used force fields to separate Hulk and Namor in The End and in The Infinity Finale.

So yes, he has used force fields in both scenarios he has faced against hulk under Starlin.

Well it seems that Thanos used energy mostly (in combination with a punch to keep annihilus from attacking) When Annihilus clawed Thanos it produced the same effect as on Gladiator. So durability against physical strikes are comparable between the two.

Annihilus was able to physically hit Gladiator far more times than Thanos. He physically struck Thanos I think twice and Gladiator more than 10.
It's Gladiator lack of fighting skill (and lack of using superspeed) that allowed annihilus to combo him like that.

I don't think abc logic works here. Now if annihilus would have hit Thanos the same amount of times as he did Gladiator then we can compare more soundly.

What's impressive is Thanos power to harm annihilus with energy. Certainly he should be able to hurt WWH with energy too. But not on the same level as Zeus did. Zeus floored WWH in one lightning strike (holding back too) and could have killed him. I don't see Thanos doing that. WWH is stronger than annihilus.

So Zeus still wins (although my opinion of Thanos has improved considerably here).

you do know Annihilus had grown stronger when Thanos fought him compared to when Annihilus fought Hulk and Gladiator.

Thanos survived multiple blasts that one shot killed the likes of Thor, Hulk, Surfer and Gladiator.

Also, Annihilus didn't become stronger after fighting Hulk and Gladiator. This was never mentioned. It did say he evolved but evolution doesn't mean he became physically more powerful.
