World's Greatest Detective?

*sigh* I know, I know. Another Batman thread...sorta. Buy I have a legit question. Is Master Bruce the world's greatest? I've been reading some old detective comics and couldn't help but notice it's heavier on the action than say actually "detecting" shit. Personally I found Elongated Man better but that's me. Anywho, what's the consensus on the board? Is he the best? And if not who is?

Bruce has nothing on the Question.

Also, the best detective is of course Detective Conan.

Going by a thread from when i first got here, he's the best comics wide.
The OP question then was, who was Marvel's best, and it was pretty clear whoever it was, would be a distant second.

Now, is that jus by rep? I dont personally think so.

and yeah, i'd say bruce. thing is, he doesn't always solve 'mysteries' per se, but when they do arise, and he does need to figure things out, he always does (of course, like the others mentioned here) but i think he has a wider skill set than any of the others and is at least as smart. if there was a mystery to crack, batman would be my top pick to solve it. there was a cross over he had with sherlock holmes once upon a time. it was actually pretty cool. seeing bats focus more on the 'detective' part of his title would be a nice shift in focus i think. it's a good thread in that it gets you thinking about him a little differently than you normally might.

Hmmm...I want to say Batman is overrated. And not in the sense of fanboyism but more due to oversaturation. He's a great detective but Bruce has billions, an elaborate cave, a network of allies, top of the line tech etc...

I was hoping to shed light on detectives like Chimp, the Shadow, Madrox, a few lesser knowns like Doc Savage & Dick Tracy plus the ones people forget are detectives like the Question, Flash and Riddler

Flash isn't REALLY as much a detective as Batman, though.

Riddler actually used to help Batman with his cases, funnily enough.
