Abom is stronger than baseline Hulk by a considerable margin (he almost knocked Hulk out with his first hit). He's also a smarter/more skilled fighter I think. He came off that way anyways. I think he would have done better in the Helicarrier fight against Thor than Hulk did, though Thor would eventually win against either of them after a good fight.
