Inconsistent...
He's a fake vampire, dependent on the blood or the serum he makes. Superhuman attributes, flight, healing factor, hypnotism. Also has his famous bite. Sounds great, but in practice said stats are not so impressive, flight is limited/not used properly, hf is a moderate one and hypno-trick is barely used (hello, Super Skrull).
He SHOULD be really formidable. Has too many on-panel embarrassments to take him seriously, though. Especially against someone like the Lizard, who made a career of destroying that spiderpussy with his tail, never using lube.

Before that he also had his owns stories in Adventures into Fear and some of the black & white mags, some of which were interesting.
I think he actually had another solo ongoing series quite recently, which presumably sank without a trace.
