Days Gone

I'm more interested in this than TLOU Part 2.

Wow, really? TLOU 2 is gonna be way better than this game.

Yeah I've got very little interest in this from what I've seen (I'll wait for reviews). TLOU2 is something I'm actually pretty excited for.

This game looks way more interesting than TLOU2. I don't see what's the big deal about that game.

Meh...Syphon Filter was released years ago and creating a couple of handheld titles is not the same as creating a triple AAA title.

The people who made those games are probably long gone by now.

Actually, they're still there. They were really getting tired of Syphon Filter and wanted to move on to something else and that's why they made this game.

Sure. I don't really believe that since the last game was 2007 and it was a portable.

I'm not saying that Days Gone isn't going to be good. Just saying they are not getting benefit of the doubt considering trailers/gameplay footage and previews have not been fantastic.

That's what they said in interview

Spoiler:
which is why Gabe was seemingly killed off at the end of the last game

Well, I'm getting this game and skipping TLOU2. Sony Bend is a trustworthy company and to be honest, Days Gone is closest thing to how I think a sequel to TLOU should be; focused on a different group of people.

I'm not even hyped for TLOU2, Played the first game...eh it was okay nothing amazing.

So I finally got around to buying and playing this because the price finally dropped from £55 to £15

Admittedly it starts off very poorly. The disjointed cuts between the dialogue. The bizarre intermittent interruptions of Deacon's heavy breathing for no apparent reason.

It improves a lot as the story goes on particularly after the introduction of Lost Lake camp and the stories with Rikki, Iron Mike and Skizzo.

Gameplay is very repetitive though. There's only essentially a handful of mission types. Bounties, Marauder/Ripper camps, nest infestations, hordes, NERO checkpoints and you just repeat them in different locations.

Some of the story missions really are disturbing, story wise though. Injecting a junkie with an overdose because he begs you not to let the militia hang him. Smothering a woman whose legs are broken so she doesn't get eaten by freakers.

It's very glitchy in parts. More than once I fell through the bottom of the map or enemies just vanished when I ran towards them. The best is when entire hordes just disappear only to spawn at another of their 3 locations (feeding, drinking, sleeping)

The character mechanics are frustrating. Like he can't walk over a 1ft high rock. The combat is always good though.

The fights with the big hordes can be initially very panicked but once you're used to it you can deal with them very easily.

While I enjoyed the story the final battle is a big soppy with all the camps you've helped all riding in to support you.

Overall I'd give it 7/10

I enjoyed this game.

The best part is the hordes...once you level up enough, they are manageable but they are still ****ing terrifying. The final horde is super nuts...

But easily the best part though.

I enjoyed the weapons, shooting and different abilities....but a lot of it is paint by numbers.
