lets make this perfectly clear: had Obi Wan not taken the high ground he would have lost that duel for sure... When they are dueling right above the lava on the little lava droids and on the raft thingy you can clearly see that Obi Wan is getting tired which is why he looks around and takes the jump onto that high ground. In fact Anakin was pushing the fight the entire time; Obi was completely being pushed back the whole fight, and unlike Grievous who Obi clearly danced around defensively and used that as offence he couldn't do the same thing against Anakin. call it his style or he didn't want to fight his brother or whatever you want but fighting defensively only works if you can out maneuver your opponent, the way he was going it was only a matter of time before anakin caught him and killed him until he took that high ground and idiot Anakin tried to jump it...lol reminds me of those epic fail parkour videos where they try to go for the big jump... the only chance Obi ever realistically had to end that fight on his own was in the control room.

The ROTS Game made it very clear that Anakin could have killed him, if he had the skill to do so, but he didn't at that time.

Not to mention Soresu being a primarily defensive form in the first place. Of course he's going to give ground.

i know that, which is why i cited his fight with Grievous showing how he can use his defensive style to cut down his opponents when he's in control, which he's clearly not throughout most of the Mustafa fight

The movie makes it very clear when watching that the last clash they have on the raft would most likely be Obi Wans last in that duel as he had nowhere to go

You have to realize that Obi Wan is going to fight differently against different opponents.

There were several times throughout the fight when it looked like it might be Anakin's end to like when Kenobi had Anakin on his back and nearly removed his head. It's not so cut and dry as you're making it out to be.

Using the GG showings to make your point is pretty shit because GG and Anakin are different type of duelist. One is great, the other is getting pounded by Jar-Jar Bink's bros.

red my earlier post, i mentioned the fact that Obi Wans chance to end the fight with Anakin happened in the control room. After that he was back peddling the entire fight with Anakin pressing him the entire way

That's sort of the point of Soresu. To use your environment tactically and defensively until you're able to exploit one of your opponent's weaknesses and that's ultimately exactly how the fight played out.

Perfect example of why the sort of logic on versus forums is just alien to the actual source material.

Though Obi-Wan's attack was kind of a gamble on his part, as shown in the alt ending of the ROTS game.
