Well he was matching Sidious in Sabers blow for blow until the blade lock so is it too outrageous to think Maul could get a Saber through Sidious' guard 1 time out of 10?

You mean when he was significantly amped by the rage he felt over his brother's death? Filoni's already confirmed (and the novel's supported the notion) that the brothers combined can't even compare to Sidious when he goes all-out.

Also, what stops Sidious from just plucking Maul with the Force and making a voodoo ritual out of him?
