Is Alkaline water REALLY better for you?

Tons of claims are made about Alkaline Water, as if its superior to water thats acidic.

Water Tech Online claims that there has never been any scientific evidence that Alkaline water is better, and that the pH level doesn't matter in drinking water, is this true?

Considering your stomach has acid in it, I'm leaning towards "snake oil".

I'm not smart enough to get that reference, if it was a reference.
