Steven Spielberg's Amblin gets back in the alien invasion game with The Fall

with a script from Pete Bridges, last year his script for RESURFACE wound up on the Black List.

Deadline reports that they're looking to get back to that genre as they've just closed a deal for a spec script by Pete Bridges titled THE FALL. THE FALL takes place in the midst of an alien invasion and follows a freshly divorced couple who must survive a dangerous real-time journey on foot from downtown Atlanta to the suburbs, where their young children are home alone

Sounds a little too much like Spielberg's War of the Worlds.

Yeah, this would have to present a very fresh spin on things to not feel like a redux of his own work.
