Star Wars: The Last Jedi

lol

There is no chance that this is still happening. It's just talk. Rian pretty much killed SW films. Disney was forced to scrap a ton of shit and shift to focusing on the TV shows because of how big a cluster**** TLJ was.

Not only that, these films were announced five years ago and there has been absolutely no movement on them. Disney ahs also mapped out their plans for SW though 2027 and Rian's films are nowhere in that. They're dead.

👆

Agreed, agreed and agreed.

But I gotta say... I'll feel a lot of safer once it becomes official he will never bad-touch Star Wars again.

You wont get that kind of confirmation. Not unless its an inside source.

I would be content with the absence of "still in development" articles such as the one Kaz posted 🙁

Those articles will exist as long as he keeps trolling fans. Which at this point I'm convinced he'll never stop doing!

I wouldn't worry about it unless it's actually ever announced with a date, or at least confirmed by Lucasfilm to be in development.

What I hate the most is how Rian managed to make most of TLJ (right from the very beginning...) feel awkward and outright cringey.

Almost as though MCU esque humor doesnt work for Star Wars and Disney did not understand that.

Star Wars can be quite cheesy and corny at times. A lot, even.

But Rian can't do cheesy/corny... he's the cringe personified.

It was MCU type humour, which didnt sit right with Star Wars.

But I could have looked passed that. Biggest isssue for me was the characterisation of Luke.

Oh and Poe and Finn officially became s***y characters.

To win back the fans Disney should be bold and make a R rated Vader film.

No.

It was Rian Johnson's type of humour.

Which doesn't work for anything at all.

Well it seemed to have worked out for his Knives Out film and that's gotten a sequel.

I wasnt referring to just Ruin Johnson and The Last Jedi as to the kind of humor unfitting for Star Wars, but the SW sequels as a whole. In TFA for example, Kylo Ren having a tantrum moment where he slashed a wall for comedic effect. Not something I picture a SW villain doing but rather an MCU villain.

Luke throwing his saber away when we were expecting and waiting for his first words and a deep moment was an MCU esque joke.

Just not befitting of the greatest Jedi. Well greatest before TLJ that is.

Rian deserves all the hate he gets, as he was 100% responsible for the script as well.

Fair. No one is giving him a way out with this. The weird for Star Wars humor was in pretty much the ST as a whole, but TLJ got the worst of it thanks to him, from the very first scene no less.

Of course. But can only blame him for TLJ, not for the the whole trilogy.

Besides its Disney/Lucasfilm who hired him and loved his vision ffs. So lets not let them off the hook for the abomination that was the ST.
