Is history repeating itself in Europe?

When the Roman fell, the Barbarians destroyed it. Now as I watch the news and watch how ISIS has attacked ISIS repeatedly in past year, I can't help but think that the barbarians have returned to Europe only it's not Rome they are trying to topple.

When Hannibal invaded the Roman Empire, Rome counterattacked and took the fight to Carthage. Why aren't we doing the same? Have we become so PC that instead Americans have lost the warrior gene?

The Roman empire grew too large to be governed effectively; slow communication and transportation was an issue back then, not so much now.

History is repeating itself however with the rise of big (socialist) government and the restriction of certain freedoms. Corruption is imminent.

Reminder to everyone that one of the reasons Rome fell was Rome's inability and unwillingness to integrate the Goths and other Germanic tribesmen into their empire, with the Romans routinely provoking Gothic migrants until it resulted in several unnecessary conflicts that weakened Rome both militarily and economically.
