Ackbar in the Battle of Endor

I haven't read the novel, but I'm curious about how Ackbar manages to best the Empire despite being ridiculously outnumbered.

Always thought it was a morale issue and the Fleet surrendered or retreated, given they lost the Executor and Death Star.
