Seriously, Kanan and cybernetics

Why in a galaxy with faster-than-light travel technology, Kanan has to be blind and they can't give him cybernetic eyes? What the hells up with that? Will it ever be at least broached? (Maybe the optical nerve was cauterized, and can't be reattached.)

Makes for a better story. Kanan with cybernetic eyes would be funny though

I guess the Republicans still voted against stem-cell research.
