Renee Walker - Did she give Jack a sense of peace?

In season 7 Jack seemed to have gained a sense of peace at the end. Did Renee give him a sense of tranquility? In season 8 they became romantically involved and when she was assassinated by the Russians, Jack went ballistic. In Live Another Day, he couldn't bring himself to say her name. Did she affect him that strong?

I think that he loved her so much because she was just like him. She sacrificed a lot personally for the greater good of her country for barely any reward. She was able to connect with him on a level his other love interests could not, because she understood the bad things he does and why he does them. So yes, she really did give Jack a sense of peace, and killing her for such scummy reasons pushed him off the deep end.

I think another important point is Renee was not always like him. He probably played a big part in changing her way of thinking - and after seeing how messed up she was afterwards, he likely felt responsible.

Renee was like him at the end, but she was not as mentally strong as Jack.
