SHAZAM

Some updates today...

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/shazam-movie-set-in-dc-film-universe-dwayne-johnson-heavily-involved-creatively

Looks like SHAZAM will be set in the same universe as MOS and that the Rock has some control over the movie.

Cautiously optimistic about this but given the Rock is involved maybe it will be a solid mixture of comedy and action. It's a shame this comes after Aquaman and Flash, Id personally take this and the MOS sequel over those two any day of the week.

Why is the rock being cast as Adam? He's not a bad actor, but he just doesn't fit the character to me.

It's his favorite character. Plus, he's going to be bad ass as Adam.

Him having more creative control could be very good, or very bad. The dude is money either way, but I'll be interested to see how they go about making a movie where Cap isn't completely overshadowed by Adam.

won't be at all surprised if this is renamed Black Adam

Oh Thank Every Deity and Comic Entity within the entire Multiverse....

If they try to make a SHAZAM (aka the movie that should be titled CAPTAIN MARVEL) with out humor. F-U-C-K THEM UP THEIR ASSES SIDEWAYS WITH A FLAMING CACTUS!!!!!!!!

Might actually be a good idea to make the story focused on and around the villain, seen more from his pov. CM isn't a superb character, imo and we already have DCU Superman. Even making BA somewhat hero-like, where you don't exactly know where he stands. Dunno, just don't want another BvS turd or even cookie-cutter hero and villain face off, hero starts to lose, but pulls through in the final battle.

He could even be like an extreme Anti-Hero. After all, nobody has heard anything of him yet. Maybe he was minding his own business until somebody came and threatened Khandaq? And being the savage he is, he goes ape shit on the intruders, and it's seen negatively by the world or something.

which is why I've ben saying I won't be surprised if they rename this Black Adam... I also won't be at all surprised if The Rock plays him as some sort of anti hero

I honestly think it would work better if they just make it an Adam movie, and make him more of an ambiguous character.

Like his mini a while back. He's not very nice, but he's not technically evil either.

Adam is like Doom in the regard that he's kind of a dick, but he's good to his people.

That's what they are making him say. I doubt he's read a single comic with BA.

Pretty much.

I'd enjoy seeing it being made as a kind of cautionary tale a little. He runs Kahndaq, the US doesn't like it, and we get a very kind of "this is what Superman could be if he wasn't such a nice guy" kind of thing.

Adam doesn't have to be evil to make people afraid of him.

King, Bruce and PR, seems an Adam centric film is what is needed, make it happen.
