The plot is being kept under wraps but we do know that it is set in 1963 America during the height of the Cold War. It involves a mute janitor (Sally Hawkins) working in a laboratory where she falls in love with an amphibious man. The two escape and are hunted down by Michael Shannon's character.

the amphibian man part reminds me of Abe Sapian.

Where the fuk is Hellboy 3

Last i heard he was having trouble with the studio & the budget cost.

water is shapeless.

Sounds interesting and I enjoy the director.

This looks like it might be quite good...

YouTube video

Looks like Hellboy prequel to do with Abe

if you know anything about his backstory he too was found in a water-filled capsule within a long-lost chamber beneath the someplace.

Awesome trailer!

This has some reviews already for some reason and they are highly complimentary...

Rotten Tomatoes

"A charming, beautifully filmed movie that appeals on many levels and is a song to cinema and to love."

"A ravishing, eccentric auteur's imagining, spilling artistry, empathy and sensuality from every open pore, it also offers more straight-up movie for your money than just about any Hollywood studio offering this year."

Yup.
Saw this trailer 2 days ago. Del Toro basically did an Abe Sapien movie in all but name.
That said it looks brilliant. Will watch.

Certainly looks fantastic visually. Intriguing looking story too. Hopefully gets a cinema release here.

Del Toro gave up his salary to get this film made

^ interesting.

I watched the trailer once back when I posted it and really liked it, but I felt like it showed too much, so I'm not going to watch it again and am trying to forget what I saw because I look forward to seeing this movie.

Gillmen are a favorite of mine. I'm excited for this, to see where Del Toro takes things.

Getting great reviews...
