Can Donald Trump really be blamed for this hate crime?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2016/08/19/white-supremacist-stabs-interracial-couple-after-seeing-them-kiss-at-bar-police-say/?utm_term=.dcb4208c1490

I ran across the above when i grew curious about a Trump bashing thread elsewhere.
So, can he be blamed?
I mean obviously he CAN be but should he be?

Lol, no.

Unless someone was specifically incited to an act of violence by someone else, then blaming someone for another's actions is generally not good practice. Trump has never said "Go out and **** people up", so it isn't his fault that this happened. The guy responsible for this particular incident was the kind of guy who would do something like this anyway.

However, I'll be interested to see what Trump says about it. One of the last times something like this happened, whilst Trump did say the incident, "if it did happen", was "unfortunate", and the only other thing he said was that his supporters are "very passionate". I would say it is irresponsible of him not to denounce these things more outright.

Should Hilary be blamed for all the violence from the anti Trump movement? No

And Sanders supporters who tried to trash Trump rallies are not the fault of Sanders.

Mike Brown's father wasn't charged with a crime for trying to incite a riot. Nor was the sister of the dead criminal from Milwaukee brought up on any charges for flat out telling people to take their looting and burning to the suburbs.

So no, Trump shouldn't be blamed for this.

Good point.

My phone isn't loading the article in question...I assume it is the shooting of the imam in Queens?

I would offer a trade in this case. If vaguely islamaphobic rhetoric on Trump's behalf can be blamed for a random hate crime against a Muslim, by that same metric BLM should be blamed for the shooting of police officers in retribution for police shooting black males. That is to say... If the criteria for holding one responsible is anyone who might have been influenced by your rhetoric to commit a crime without you giving any direct or implicit support of such a crime.. Then sure, both Donald Trump and BLM have blood on their hands... As do many others in the public limelight

No, a white supremacist stabbed an interracial couple after seeing them kiss.

But you see it's different because..reasons. You can't expect people to be consistent about these things.

But hell if we do go by this logic then people like Hilary Clinton are responsible for crimes. Any politician who has opened their mouth to insult Trump and his supporters would be partially responsible for all the violence done against Trump supporters at rallies.

But again..you can't expect consistency here because that would be downright logical and logic left the building long ago.

Yeah Sanders should denounce his retarded protesters and George Bush should have denounced the military after making fun of John Kerry.

Oh...

Haha
