SoD Darth Maul - gauntlet

Started by SunRazer2 pages

The junior novel just claims that Obi-Wan couldn't counter such a sudden attack, not that the attack could have been countered if it wasn't sudden. But that's kind of how Choke works anyway.

Well, Dooku's TK is way more powerful than Maul's anyaway, so if a ragdoll occurs, it's not gonna knock Kenobi out like Dooku could.

And I'm sure Kenobi could hurl a stone at Maul or something to distract him. I mean, he even got out of Anakin's Choke-hold.

Ehh. Maul's is pretty potent and if he can't outright ragdoll Maul his force edge is irrelevant.

What do you mean Maul ragdolling Maul? You mean Dooku or Obi-Wan?

I'm thinking out loud. Dooku vs Maul

I don't hate him. Like at all. Despite Legends and Neph's wank I also appreciate Vaylin and Arcann.

Dooku ragdolling Maul isn't that much of a stretch, tbh. Even if he couldn't ragdoll, that doesn't mean his Force edge is irrelevant, at all.

Well not irrelevant but not a game changer.
Maul could very well claim a victory through simply tanking everything Dooku throws at him and waiting for him to tire. I still see the Count winning a majority obviously but it's interesting.

A powerful burst of lightning from Dooku could end Maul right then and there. Not kill, but incapacitate, permanently. A simple Force push could do the same, tbh.

A single attack? I'm not too sure about that, considering Anakin and Obi-Wan weren't killed instantly when they were up against Dooku

Good lord.

Well, considering a single attack from an injured Dooku was enough to kill Asajj Ventress, I don't favor Maul's chances.

In fact, an even more injured Dooku - quite literally half-dead - has already proven his superiority to Maul, when he joined Sidious and Maul joined Talzin, Dooku and Sidious began to overpower them, whereas previously it had been a stalemate:

Even if it wouldn't outright kill him, Maul's reaction to even the weakest Force lightning has been to collapse on his knees:

To more powerful - although still non-lethal - blasts:

So yes, a single blast of lightning from Dooku will permanently take Maul out of the fight. I'd even argue this applies to Telekinesis:

Note that Obi-Wan has endured about just as much pain as Maul has in his life, yet was still knocked by Dooku.

Durge being strong enough to do this:

So I can definately see Maul getting one-shot by Dooku's lightning and TK.

Yeah, Dooku isn't ragdolling Maul, as much as I am a Dooku fan.

Let me have a go!

- Savage was hit by Dooku's Lightning no less than 5 times, and he still got up each time
- Savage choked and ragdolled Dooku and Ventress at the same time.
- He pushed back Anakin and Kenobi at the same time in sabers, and knocked them on their asses when he lashed out with the Force.
- Maul casually disarmed savage in 2 seconds and then literally stepped on his head
- Savage to Maul: "I'm not like you, I never was..."

But wait, there's more! Having just proved that Maul is by far Dooku's superior in matters of dueling, I will now prove he's superior in the Force as well:

- Sidious holo-choked Dooku from half a galaxy away.
- he didn't do the same to Maul in SOD despite having the chance(and reason) multiple times.

Ergo Sidious can't assert his dominance over Maul as easily as he can with Dooku. Because Maul is stronger in the Force.

Since I'm a gentleman I'm not even going to mention the deleted TCW scene where Maul Force pushes Sidious and pins him to the wall, a feat which in the entire mythos only Yoda manages to (partially) replicate.

And speaking of Yoda, here's the cherry on top:

- Yoda immediately sensed Maul's resurrection in the Force and was very disturbed.
- Dooku himself also sensed it and was obviously shaken, going so far as to call it "something sinister".

In contrast, Dooku had fallen to the Dark side a decade prior to AOTC in all that time none of the Jedi ever sensed it, not even his master Yoda, to whom he presumably had a bond.

In other words Yoda immediately senses and is disturbed by Maul's presence in the Force despite not even having met him, but doesn't even get a whiff of Dooku falling to the Dark side and growing in power despite having known him for decades.

That's because Maul is much stronger in the Force and in the Dark side.

To conclude:

Maul speaking about Dooku: " ... the Sith pretender Dooku..."
Dooku speaking about Maul: "... your powers will rival that of the great Sith Lord Darth Maul."

Sounds about right.
