Yeah the book is one of the more extreme. But I do believe in incidents like in Tehran. I think a very very small number of these stories can't be explained.

Well from the BPP you have the "Rigelians" which are an evil under water dwelling race. You have the Reptilians, which are another hostile race. The Grey's seem to be neutral, the "Nords" are on our side(supposedly).

In the mid 1970's there was a mysterious object spotted flying above the city of Tehran, Iran. They sent out a couple of jet fighters after it to "investigate". One experiences a system wide failure and has to turn back. The remaining jet ends up getting closer and closer and eventually close enough to see the object is some kind of mysterious craft. So of course the first thing he does is arm his missile. Right before he is about to fire his weapon systems go offline. Then a small object shoots out of the craft towards him. He thinks it is a missile and he tries to avoid it, but really can't do much to evade. At the last second the object stops and goes under the craft, circles back around and goes back into the larger craft.
Then the jet gets out of there and the object disappears. This is an incident you can find via the FOIA. You have an object performing aerial maneuvers that we aren't capable of, and you have it capable of selectively shutting down the systems of a jet, since it was able to take weapons offline and allow everything else to work.
