Would Aliens be warlike or explorers?

The nature of the first encounter has been explored through science fiction for decades. But in your mind what would elapse if mankind encountered a probe or a vessel from an alien race? What are the odds that they'd be spacefaerers surveving the galaxy, or rather an interstellar polity that claims our solar system as it's territory? What as the nature of sentient beings would you favor of you had the flip a coin?

According to John Podesta and Joe Biden, the aliens are already here.

John Podesta's emails confirms, Roswell, ETI, Aliens and UFO's already here on earth working with the government.

I'd favor a nice Federation/Prime Directive encounter, but in reality any encounter's likely to be Columbus/Indians.

If they're too warlike it would be difficult to imagine them forming civilizations sufficiently advanced and with enough of a surplus to bother with space exploration, and they would be likely to have killed one another via nuclear holocaust.

It's also difficult to say what benefit our planet would hold to them.

Here's hoping.

Again going by our own history, i think they could keep it together long enough to get into space.

We should be good as long as it aint those crappy aliens from that Scientology Aliens like in that Battlefield Earth Movie.

If they are far advanced and intelligent than us, they won't attack for no reason at all. I think they might just ignore us, or take a few of us as specimen to experiment on.

The Blue Planet Project lists a variety of species we have apparently come into contact with. Some of them are classified as HAV's, hostile alien visitors.
